you can’t take a compliment, can you?

WOAH! WOAH! WOAH!

When did August become such a nice month? Ever since I was a child, August has been the worst, and I mean absolute worst, month out of the year. It’s never cool; it is so humid you can’t breathe; the bugs are SO bad… BUT the last two days have been amazing! It is so nice to wake up in the morning with a breeze that puts goose bumps on my arms 🙂

So, now that the amazing weather has at least been discussed, I want to let y’all in on two little secrets (which really aren’t secrets). The secrets I want to share with you guys today is this: 1). LEARN HOW TO TAKE A COMPLIMENT   2). GIVE COMPLIMENTS. It’s that easy!

What drove me to share this with y’all is what happened today, because it really is the little things, like compliments, that make life that much sweeter. I was walking to my car from work today and the bus driver for the MUSC bus stopped the bus in the middle of the road to ask me what my tattoo was on my leg, and I told her, and she told me how beautiful it was; compliment number one. Not one hour later, I was walking bella in a local neighborhood and got stopped yet again by a girl on a bike who asked me about my tattoo, and I told her, and she said how beautiful it was; compliment number two. Now don’t take this is me boasting about getting compliments, because I am definitely not doing that. I just wanted to share with y’all two random compliments that I got today that not only put a smile on my face, but actually made me feel good about my life, and the decisions that I made that lead me to that exact moment.

I have struggled all my life with taking a compliment, and still do, but I’ve realized the importance of being able to take a compliment. It’s important because when you take a compliment you are allowing yourself to feel pretty, or feel like you matter, or feel like someone else likes something about you. I’ve learned to embrace the fact that when others look at me, they don’t see the flaws and failures I see, they

see through different eyes, and most of the time it’s something good.

Today has been a good day all around and I have no one else to give praise to than God!  He allowed me to wake up to a breath-taking breeze. He allowed me to have a great day at work, learning as much as I could. He allowed me to accept not one, but two compliments. And most of all he allowed me to spend time with my little fur baby on national dog day. God is so good!

So, enough with my rambling! I challenge you today to give a compliment when someone is least expecting it. I challenge you to take a compliment even when you don’t think you deserve it. The mind is very easy to influence if you let your heart lead the way. Embrace your flaws and accept your beauty, because YOU are fearfully and wonderfully made, and YOU are worth it!! Don’t let your negative attitude or lack of self-confidence keep you from loving yourself, and especially from loving others!

stay beautiful! xoxo
