Merry Christmas from an RN

Merry Christmas!

First and foremost, I am grateful for waking up today. The mere fact that I am able to wake up in a warm home, on a comfy bed, with electricity and food in my pantry are pretty freaking amazing. I’m thankful that God chose to give me another day to spread His love.

Today I am not celebrating Christmas with a bunch of presents, or family, I am celebrating Christmas at work, with great co-workers and sick patients.

It’s so easy to get lost in selfishness and greediness from the presents and decorations around Christmas time, but at work, I don’t have any of that, so today I will be constantly reminded of the miracle birth of Jesus.  🙂

Yeah, it sucks having to celebrate without my family and in my cozies, but I am truly honored to work today. I get to take care of sick people, just like Jesus did while He walked the earth. I get another opportunity to be a light in someone’s darkness. I get to have a huge feast with my co-workers at lunch. I get to give the families of these patients a chance to celebrate Christmas with their family, while I sacrifice that time with mine.

So, no matter what profession you are in, if you are working today, go ahead and pat yourself on the back, because your servitude today is selfless, sacrificial, and humbling. Serve today with patience, kindness, humility, and gratefulness. You may be the only person someone sees today, so make sure they get to see a beautiful smile.

May the God of grace, mercy, and love fill your hearts today in such a way that people will see Him shining through you.

Merry Christmas y’all!!!!

stay beautiful! xoxo
