My first 12 as an RN.

Today! WOW! I can’t even explain to you how hard the devil was working this morning. I was so scared to go to work this morning for some reason, so before I left my house, I opened my bible and read some verses on fear-

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7 NLT

Serve only the Lord your God and fear him alone. Obey his commands, listen to his voice, and cling to him. Deuteronomy 13:4 NLT

But even if you suffer for doing what is right, God will reward you for it. So don’t worry or be afraid of their threats. 1 Peter 3:14 NLT

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. Psalm 56:3 NIV

Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.” Mark 5:36 NIV

Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.Revelation 1:17 NIV

These verses calmed my spirit. I was able to think clearly and move on with my day. Thank you Jesus 🙂

When I got to work this morning, I made sure to announce that I brought everyone muffins! Everyone on the unit really appreciated that I brought them, so I definitely felt a little more at ease starting my day knowing that I had at least made a good first impression. So me and my preceptor, X?, started the day by getting report, giving meds, and doing assessments. I had to leave for a couple of hours to go to a wound-care clinic right after lunch though to learn all about pressure ulcers

The afternoon was spent taking care of my patients and learning a ton of stuff about charting. I learned a lot today, and I can’t wait to learn even more!

I hope you all know how excited I am to begin this new chapter in my life. I am so blessed to have been given this opportunity, and I can only thank Jesus and my family and friends who have supported me along the way to get me to where I am today! So, to whom this may apply, THANK YOU.

After work I headed home to do insanity, day one, the fit test. I brought my shaker bottle with me to work so I could have dinner part one on the way home, which consisted of 1 scoop chocolate whey protein, 2 scoops of vi-shape shake mix, and 1 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk. I was fueled up and ready for a quick, intense workout. I completed the fit test outside on my back porch; two words: holy humidity.

As soon as I finished the fit test I quickly took a shower, and am currently munching down on an apple (dinner part two), drinking TONS of water, and completing this post in my pajamas, in my bed, because I have to wake up again in 8 hours 😦

  1. Wow, good for you!! 🙂 I had to take a TABE test a few weeks ago for a nurse asst position and that felt like a lot of work but for a nurse…there’s a lot more work involved. You worked hard to get where you are and that’s amazing 🙂
