Happy Monday everyone! I hope today was as fantastic and beautiful as you are! I don’t really dread Monday’s, because as the e-card says above, I get paid on Mondays, and now that I just started my new job as a Registered Nurse on the Telemetry unit at Trident Hosptial, I’ll be getting paid on Fridays, every two weeks. Soooooo, if I break it down for you, I’ll be getting paid 6 times a month 🙂 But don’t worry, this is possible for you too. Anyway, back to today! I started my long day off with a delicious banana vi-shake and a 30 minute walk around my neighborhood. After I finally woke up after the walk, I showered and got ready for work! My very first day of work involved information after information after information. I would love to say that the entire day, 7:30 AM- 4:00 PM mind you, was interesting and held my attention the whole time, but I’d be lying. It was a ton of information, and my brain was definitely about to explode, but that’s nothing the gym couldn’t fix! I filled out paperwork, watched videos, and absorbed very valuable information that is essential to me becoming the best nurse I can be! The whole day I was really antsy to move because I was just sitting there, for nearly eight and a half hours (minus two 15 minute breaks and a 45 minute lunch break)! My mid-morning snack was a Chobani Champions Vanilla Chocolate Chunk and small plate of fruit!
My lunch was this delicious quinoa bowl, which consisted of 1/2 cup cooked quinoa, 3 oz. chicken, 1/4 cup cooked black beans, 6 baby carrots, 6 dill pickle chips, 1 T spicy mustard, and 2 T raisins. All heated together 🙂 I had about 1/2 cup of blueberries and 4 strawberries along with this! During lunch I was able to visit someone I know in the hospital, and I thank God for giving me that time with that person. I just pray that God continues to heal and comfort my friend.
Later that afternoon, when I started to feel a little tired, I snacked on a juicy peach and had a cup of coffee. That definitely woke me up enough to finish listening strong and get amped up for the gym!
After orientation I headed to the gym! I munched on an apple on the way and was ready to sweat! I got today’s workout from the beautiful Cait at Beyond Bananas. She shared a workout on Instagram, and I was quick to write it down to use for today. I completed 5 rounds of 400 M run, 15 prisoner squat with twist, 10 one leg burpees, 15 push up should taps, and 20 plank oblique twists. I finished in 33:33 which I am very happy with. I was pouring sweat and felt like a rock-star! I cooled down with a ten minute walk on the treadmill (at 4 mph), and did 300 abs.
After my sweaty workout I was craving a smoothie, but couldn’t leave my dad hanging, so I stopped by Moe’s (Moe’s Monday) and grabbed him dinner. We enjoyed a peaceful little dinner just the two of us 🙂 It’s just the two of us because my beautiful mother and niece are visiting my brother in Fayetteville, NC for the week.
I’m going to miss you mom 😦
So, right now I am catching up on e-mails, making calls, finishing up details and flyers for the challenge party this Friday, and looking back over my work stuff to make sure everything is in line for tomorrow. I get to wear scrubs tomorrow, so I’ll make sure to post a pic 😉
